So I lied...

Normal service isnt resuming shortly - heck it might not resume at all. I'm enjoying my hunter back on my home server too much atm.

Of course if the guild ever does move to Stormscale, Windshadow shall moo and maul once more.

SFK, from 2 perspectives

25, Barrens (still ;-), feral

Did SFK twice over the extended (national holiday) weekend. Both times I was invited into the party as dps - times sure have changed* - but the first time I ended up tanking.

See the first run, we had a 21 warrior in our group. After a fair amount of flying and running (XR -> Orgrimmar -> UC -> Sepulcher takes a while) me and someone else get to the summoning stone and start to get everyone across. Suddenly the warrior goes "DING" and leaves the group. Odd. Anyway we pick up another tank - a prot specced pally. Unfortunately he was only a lvl 19 or 20, and myself and the rogue in the group were 23/24 respectively so he had a really hard time holding aggro off us. No problem for me as I'd just shift into bear form when things went sour. By the time we'd gotten to the kitchen, he sat down on the floor after the mage called a mana break, and he never got up again. Disconnected after a few minutes while I proceeded to tank the rest of the instance. Did quite ok - only stuffed up once at Arugal because I thought I could LoS him down after pulling him with a starfire. Got Fenrus' Hide from this run. Feedback: tanking SFK with a feral is easy. Swipe spam like it's 2006, and just pick up enough mobs to keep the rage coming in. With 1.6k armor, who cares about that 5th mob hitting you anyway :-)

Then yesterday, I got called in as DPS again into a group with another druid (resto - really whats with these people leveling a protection paladin and a resto druid... masochism much?), a rogue, a lock and a warrior. The warrior insisted he'd tank and he did a sterling job - only managed to pull aggro on untanked mobs which he then swiftly proceeded to grab off me. Insanely fast run and it got me the Silverlaine's Family Seal. Feedback: kitty pew pew in SFK is fun, and challenging. Setting up 3-4 point rips and ravages on multiple mobs takes some timing (not to mention energy - with my more tank oriented speccing I only just got the free CP talent) and was a nice challenge. I got pretty close to the rogue's dps as well (gotta love recount) which considering he was using the normal instant/deadly poison combo wasn't too shabby. Here's hoping I get to do more of this.

Having both the cloak and the ring already, means I've got the only 2 valuable feral drops from SFK already. There's the Rugged Spaulders from Rethilgore as well but I've got better ones from WC. They dropped both times by the way and funny enough, I won them both times as well, on greed rolls. Anyway - on to the next instance which would be... Razorfen Kraul?

Btw.. I ran into a fledgeling boomkin! Advertising himself in LFG as "not a tank/healer" I got curious and asked what his spec was. He replied "balance", to which I told him "Awesome - don't ever change - boomkins rock". He seemed happy to run into another druid who understood him :-)

Wailing Caverns, reloaded

Barrens, 22, feral

So we go back to Wailing Caverns (this time with people with less Swedish looking names) and it turns out quite all right. I complete my final quest and get ready to pick up my Crescent Staff which will go nicely with Belt of the Fang. Suddenly the mage takes off after a wipe (which was his fault to begin with) so we get in a guildie and finish the instance.

When done, he mentions he still needs the 99-Year-Old Port so we go out to hunt for the npc that drops it. When suddenly I run into a rare mob - Boahn. I quickly kill him, and he drops Boahn's Fang. Awesome! I swiftly dispatch it to my bank alt who chucks it up on the AH for 30G - sold in less than 2 hours. That's my mount payed for already ;-)

What's new pussycat

21, Barrens, feral

Smack me with a trout and call me a cat - because as of last night that's what I am ( /minimexicanwave).

I log on last night and as per usual put myself in the LFG queues for WC and SFK. No more than a minute later I get invited to a group and we're off - awesome. Group contained a priest, 2 paladins, myself (duh) and a shaman.

Of course as no PUG is complete without a d**k in it, the priest decided to take up that role. Commenting on me to no skin mobs (well sue me I'm a skinner - it's my cash cow - no pun intended), to innervate him or to "enable" Heart of the Wild (a lvl 40 passive talent) etc...

Anyway we do the instance, I grab all the quest drops I still needed (picked up a few earlier in the cave outside) and we proceed to smack down the 3 serpent lords. Wait... no yellow text on screen? Dammit I 'd forgotten to pick up the quest :-| Guess I'll have to go back once more at least (which is fine as I want to get the rest of the leather set).

I got incredibly lucky with drops, especially as there was
a) a shaman in our group, leather armor only until lvl 40
b) 2 paladins who rolled on leather and passed on mail ...

Anyway these 3 puppies dropped:

Serpent's Shoulders
Glowing Lizardscale Cloak
Armor of the Fang

Needless to say my armor, crit and AP have shot up considerably.

To top it all off, the last boss got me to hit the big 2-0. Hellooooo Kitty :) Handed in all the quests, head off to Thunder Bluff, picked up cat form and a dozen other spells (which set me back 2,5G ...) and by the time I 'd logged off, I had leveled once more. Travel form, here I come.

Stormscale - fun server, retarded community?

Behind my desk, 30, enraged

So far leveling and questing on Stormscale's been enjoyable. I ran into a few nice people from Insert Coin and generally when I invite people who are doing the same quest as me at the same time, they accept and we get along splendidly (whereas on Arathor you're usually met with some hostility or mockery and your invitation is rejected). Generally speaking, I like the server.

I strongly dislike the community at Stormscale.org however. What appears to have been a great community once (much like arathor.net), is now a place to be avoided at all costs. Every single discussion gets derailed with 4chan or IRC crap. In some sort of ditch attempt to keep out a few people, people behind proxy servers are now blocked from using the forum. Most likely to keep out a few recently banned people abusing open proxies or anonymizers, but it feels like their using a 20T weight to squat a fly.

To the mongs who provoked this reaction: way to go. To the tech-inadequate numpties who installed the 20T weight: sort it out mkay?

[Barrens] WTB [Graveyard] ...

Barrens (still), 19, feral

Seriously - who designed the Barrens? Did you not realize that for non-mounted players, it's a huge zone with just 2 (Crossroads and Camp T) in it? That a fair amount of quests situated around the Sludge Fen require you to run for 3-4 minutes to get back to your corpse if you stuff up (caveat: I only did it once but it was enough to annoy me)?

Anyway enough with the whines. Windshadow dinged 19 yesterday killing some mob in some place (there are sooo many quests in the Barrens that it makes Westfall look like a 5 minute job to clear). Now normally I'd be heading off to the nearest capital city and start queueing for Warsong Gulch to start gathering those first few dozen marks and get some honor points while my leveling buddy catches up on his lock.

Unfortunately he quit the game last night - he moved to a new place with an unbearably slow internet connection and found it too frustrating to continue playing if it's just leveling alts (he quit raiding a while ago). Anyway - no more reason to hang around in the 19 WSG bracket and get ganked endlessly by twinks with more money than you can shake a stick at.

Level 20 and kitty pew pew, here I come...
